Beginner Classes

Beginning Sewing
In this course you will learn the basics starting with how to operate a sewing machine and then you'll learn tips and techniques that you can apply to garment sewing, home decor and quilt making. You will create your own apron, tote bag & pin cushion in this course.
Tuesdays at 1- 3 pm, September 23 through October 30th.

Beginner Quilt Making
If you’ve always wanted to learn the timeless art of quilting, this is the class for you. You’ll learn an easy method to make a tried and true beginning block, the 9-patch. Lana will introduce you to color and design theory and you’ll choose your fabric. Then she’ll instruct you on how to accurately cut, pin, and sew your blocks. You’ll have a finished quilt top and, after using our longarm services, we’ll teach you how to square up and bind your quilt.

Intro to Garment Making - Pants and Pockets
These quick and easy pants are sure to be a favorite in your wardrobe! In this beginning garment sewing class you will make a pair of pants and learn how to alter the pattern to suit your size/style. In addition, we will show you how to jazz it uadd both inseam and patch pockets.

Intermediate Classes

Make a Quilt Coat
This class wraps quilt making and garment sewing into one course that packs a
punch! You’ll learn how to sew a patchwork quilt, have it longarmed, and then turn it into a coat that’s super easy to make. We’ll also show you to how to sew a test garment and alter your pattern to make it a custom fit. Learn pattern matching techniques too. You’ll choose from different closure methods and then binding techniques.You'll have a for a finished quilt coat ready for Fall weather!
Saturdays at 1:30 - 3:30 pm, September 27 - November 1

Sew a Lone Star Quilt
Have you ever wanted to sew a Lone Star Quilt but have been too intimidated? In this class, Mikka will walk through every step of making your own classic Lone Star quilt. We will cover choosing fabrics, cutting on a bias, precision piecing and how to assemble your star without Y seams. Student quilts will be professionally long-armed and the final class will be dedicated to sewing a binding so you'll leave with a finished heirloom quilt.

Sewing for Children
Have a wee one in your life? You won't be able to resist making this adorable ensemble! In this advanced beginner class we will make a pair of child sized pants and an adorable dress.
Wednesdays at 10am-12pm, September 24 - October 29th

All About Applique
Applique is not just for quilting but a great way to embellish jeans, jackets, and other clothing items. In this class you’ll learn several different hand and machine applique techniques and then choose a project—either quilt block(s), garment, or other item of your choice—to embellish with your own unique applique design.

Colorblock Sewing
Mix and match fabrics to create a one of a kind garment! In this advanced beginner/intermediate class you'll learn how to combine fabrics to make a unique, color blocked garment. Skills learned: pattern hacking/altering, patchwork for garment making, seam finishing, gathering, and color play!
