Block Print of the Month: February, Carving for Clarity: Bold Botanicals on Fabric

Saturday, February 21, 10am-1pm

In this hands-on block printing workshop, we’ll slow down and focus on clarity — carving bold botanical motifs that print cleanly and consistently on fabric.

Participants will choose from a selection of simple flower and foliage designs and personalize them using intentional mark-making and texture. We’ll print on a tan checkered fat quarter, using the grid of the fabric to explore spacing, repetition, and alignment while practicing clean impressions and consistent inking.

This class is designed as a foundational skill-building session and is ideal for beginners as well as those looking to refine their carving and printing technique. Students will leave with a printed fabric piece suitable for a future sewing or home project.

This year-long block printing series introduces students to the art of hand-carved block printing on fabric through a progressive, skill-building approach. Over twelve monthly, three-hour classes, students will learn core printmaking techniques while creating custom fabrics that can be incorporated into sewing projects such as tote bags, wall hangings, and home décor.

* We have a wait list for each class, so please sign up by the Friday morning prior to class so we can fill your spot if you can't attend!

Class Policies

Our classes support the fabric and supplies we carry and we purchase fabric and merchandise to support our classes. Our policy is to have students purchase their fabric and supplies at our studio.
