Block Print of the Month Registration - A Year-Long Skill-Building Series

This year-long block printing series introduces students to the art of hand-carved block printing on fabric through a progressive, skill-building approach. Over twelve monthly, three-hour classes, students will learn core printmaking techniques while creating custom fabrics that can be incorporated into sewing projects such as tote bags, wall hangings, and home décor.

The series begins with the creation of an “animal guide”—an animal motif that holds personal meaning or simply brings the student joy. As the months progress, students will build confidence working with fabric, color, scale, and repeat patterns, gradually moving from single-block prints to more complex, layered designs. Each class balances hands-on instruction, creative exploration, and practical tips for successful fabric printing, with additional guidance on turning printed fabric into finished sewing projects.

Registration covers Printing Tools & Materials
The registration fee covers a block printing tool kit, which students will keep and use throughout the year.  It also covers shared supplies used for the year-long series, including colored fabric printing inks, fabric, paper, and other consumables.

This is a registration fee.  Each monthly class is $95 and $47.50 for Sew Local Studio Members.

Kristi Westberg is a California-based artist, block printer, and founder of At the Dot Design. She creates nature-inspired artwork rooted in traditional printmaking, pattern design, and a love of slow, hands-on processes. Her work blends bold graphic shapes with playful storytelling.

Class Policies

Our classes support the fabric and supplies we carry and we purchase fabric and merchandise to support our classes. Our policy is to have students purchase their fabric and supplies at our studio.
